Every year throughout the United States, fire is responsible for hundreds of deaths and injuries, along with billions of dollars in property loss. The West Hazleton Fire Department strives to prevent fires from occurring by conducting an progressive Fire Prevention Program. The Fire Department has an obligation to the residents to provide instruction on Fire Safety. Issues such as working smoke detectors, home escape plans, school safety, and property maintenance are paramount to Fire Safety.
Each year, the West Hazleton Fire Department educates the public, from school children to the elderly on fire safety. The Suburban Burn Prevention Fire Safety House is used by Borough Fire Fighters to teach school aged children about the dangers of Fire. Also, we work hard every year to attain grants for public distribution of Smoke Detectors and Replacement Batteries.
The Fire Prevention Division is led by Fire Chief Robert Ward, and assisted by Deputy Chief Patrick Ward. Both are Licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry as Fire Inspectors, and appointed by Borough Council as the Boroughs Fire Inspectors.
